ZAKAH AND WAQF FOUNDATION GOMBE’S GIRLS CHILD EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM: FOSTERING SKILLS AND INDEPENDENCE AMONG YOUNG GIRLS

The Girls Child Empowerment program, launched by the Zakah and Waqf Foundation in Gombe on December 15, 2023, marks a significant initiative under the umbrella of women’s empowerment. This second edition of the program is designed to uplift young girls through skill development, fostering self-reliance and economic independence.
The program features three distinct categories, tailoring, bead making, and shoe making, with 20, 15, and 15 participants respectively. This diverse approach aims to cater to varied interests and skills, ensuring a comprehensive empowerment experience for the 50 participating girls.
The curriculum spans a duration of _three consecutive weeks_, allowing for an immersive and thorough learning experience. The focus on girls under 20 years reflects a commitment to nurturing skills early in life, setting the foundation for future opportunities and financial autonomy.
By combining vocational training with a targeted age group, the Zakah and Waqf Foundation not only addresses immediate skill development but also contributes to the long-term empowerment and socio-economic advancement of these young girls.
The program stands as a testament to the organization’s dedication to creating positive change and fostering sustainable development within the community.
