The G-CEP is a practical ‘catch-them-young’ sustainable empowerment tool for young girls. Since its launch in 2023, the Girl-Child Empowerment Program has received wide support from philanthropists and well-to-do members of the society. The Program involves hands-on free training for young girls (mostly orphans between age 14 and 17) in different skills including tailoring, shoe and bag making (leather work), beads, wire-work and jewelry making, cosmetology and knitting for a period of six weeks. These young girls are selected from various Islamiyya schools across Gombe Metropolis. The program also involves coaching and counselling on the basics of entrepreneurship, financial literacy, pre-marital tips, life visioning, planning and goals, home gardening and many others. The program aims at empowering young girls to become self-reliant, self-dependent, and business oriented from a young age. The Program continues to record a lot of success and aims to further expand its horizons to employ various other skills like event-planning, hall-decorations, catering and lots more.
