We receive all forms of zakah (cash, livestock’s, grains, etc.) from eligible payers.
The Zakah and Waqf Foundation’s main target of economic empowerment are less-privileged women (widows and mothers of orphans especially), youth and children. Women are empowered through start-up capitals, financial literacy, skills-acquisition trainings, and mentorship through regular follow-ups to ensure business growth. The youth are empowered through providing them with vocational and technical training to enhance their skills, personal development, financial literacy, leadership skills, Zakah and waqf management, and other life opportunities.
The aim of these economic empowerment schemes is to enable beneficiaries to become financially self-reliant, reduce poverty levels among the groups, and equip them with marketable skills for sustainable livelihoods.
The Foundation provides emergency relief for cases that are related ONLY to (i) request for food items, and (ii) schooling necessities for basic levels of education. On very serious cases, the Foundation has provided emergency relief for health purposes. When a case is brought, the welfare unit decides, after thorough investigation, whether a person is eligible for the emergency special intervention or not.
We manage waqfs (endowments) in the following ways: Family waqf; Religious waqf; Philanthropic waqf.
The Foundation, since its inception in 2018, has organized an uncountable number of workshops, public lectures, seminars, roundtables, Friday sermons, and trainings on skills-acquisitions and various other models. The span of these lectures range from topics on Zakah and Waqf management, distribution, and awareness; tree-waqf, financial literacy, ICT skills, self-development, empowerment, mentorship, and loads of other contemporary issues.
The Foundation ensures access to quality education for orphans and vulnerable people through utilizing Zakah funds to cover school fees, books, and uniforms to those who are opportune to benefit. The Foundation has been in collaboration with the Qatar Foundation where over 300 orphans in Gombe metropolis are being sponsored for their basic education. The Foundation has also helped to be a part of the sponsors of a young girl with no upper limbs, to enroll into the University due to her passion and commitment to learning. The Foundation is in a bid to break the cycle of poverty through education.
